About Us...
We are a Anglo-American family living in a red state. I am originally from this town and met my English husband when working abroad in my 20s. We married and lived in England where we had three children, boys. Or so we thought.
We are just your average family. Oh, and we have a transgender daughter.
When the kids were small we moved back home - to the town where I grew up. The town my husband fell in love with it for the way of life, the sunshine and the kindness of the people.
As politically and socially liberal people, it can be tough existing in the bible belt without tearing your hair out. But we have found a wonderful circle of friends who accept us for who we are and either lovingly roll their eyes at their liberal friends or join in with us as we bitch about the state of education, healthcare, mental health, gun control...whatever our latest bug bear is. We have raised our three children to be open-minded, accepting, loving and non-judgmental. People we want to hang out with.

In the early days on this journey, I devoured every book, blog and website on transgender issues. I have found that none of them highlight stories identical to ours. No one resource has everything I'm looking for. So, I started this blog as a way to process what I am going through as a parent, to document our journey as a family, and hopefully, to be a resource to others who follow behind me. Maybe our story will have the missing piece for someone else.
